A small holiday park close to Flevoland

No big polder park with barriers and a swimming pool, but five cabins in the reeds. The Noordoostpolder half an hour away, the Weerribben right behind your door.

Looking for a holiday park close to Flevoland? Then this one is a different kind. Boetiekpark de Kas is small: five Wetland Cabins and a couple of Tiny Greenhouses on the edge of National Park Weerribben-Wieden, in Scherpenzeel. It lies just in Friesland, but the Noordoostpolder starts a quarter of an hour further on. So you have the openness and water of Flevoland within reach, while at night you sleep among the reeds instead of on a busy park. During the day into the polder, in the evening quiet by the water.

Not the big polder park

Most holiday parks near Flevoland are large: hundreds of cottages, a swimming pool, a barrier gate. We are the opposite. Five cabins, no more, each with its own hot tub and a view of the vegetable garden and the greenhouses. No entertainment programme, no neighbours a metre away. Whoever books here consciously chooses small and quiet, and uses Flevoland as the day trip.

Where you sleep

The Wetland Cabin is a two-person cabin with a Scandinavian touch: small, cosy and with nature within a metre's reach. Inside a compact kitchen, a seating area and large windows. Outside a private hot tub, your own barbecue and a spot for the long evenings. If you come with children or a dog, there's the Tiny Greenhouse, with a mezzanine where you sleep under the stars and dogs are welcome (max. 2).

For large groups

If you come with a group or for a wedding, there's the Landerij, a 1930s inn for twenty people, which can be combined with the cabins for up to about 36 people. And for those who enjoy camping themselves, behind the Landerij there's a small nature campsite among the fruit trees, dogs welcome.

Where the polder begins

Flevoland is the youngest part of the Netherlands, reclaimed from the sea in the last century. You can see it: dead-straight roads, fields stretching to the horizon, and the biggest skies in the country. From the park you can cycle or drive straight into the Noordoostpolder.

Nearby lie Urk, an old fishing village on the IJsselmeer with a lively harbour, and Schokland, a former island that now lies in the middle of the polder and is the first Dutch UNESCO World Heritage Site. In April the polder turns colourful with tulip fields. If you want to go further, Batavialand and the Oostvaardersplassen near Lelystad are a longer drive away.
